One would think that after the New Year begins, and the holidays are over, things would slow down a bit, and they have a little bit, but I think we're all still reeling from the bustle of the Christmas season. We don't have any plans yet again this weekend, and I'm very thankful for that! Cody and I are both starting to get Spring fever. "Already?" you might ask. Well, yes. We even took our first trip of the year to the gardening center last weekend to buy some seeds and some bulbs. I think I'm going to plant the bulbs in pots, and get some started so I can have some spring a little early in the house. I was so excited to see that some of my house plants are blooming right now.
Feeding Liam solid foods is going pretty well still. It's really funny to see his reaction to each new food that he tastes. It's hard to imagine not ever having tasted anything but milk, and having to experience all of these new sensations for the first time. I've discovered that so far he really likes the baby cereal, and squash. Carrots are okay, but he hates bananas. I mean we're talking really hates. He gags every bite he takes, and I pretty much have to pry his mouth open to get him to take a bite. So I guess we'll try bananas again in a few weeks, after he has a more experienced palate. :)
Liam is now about 4 and a half months old, and so much fun! He's starting to reach for everything. He tries to grab the phone out of my hand while I'm talking on it, he has started reaching for his Daddy when he wants him to hold him, and he definitely reaches for all food and drink. No more being able to eat easily with him sitting on my lap!

How exactly does this work again?
Okay, so all my friends have started blogs, and I love going to read them and see all the pictures, so I guess I better start one too. I don't know how enjoyable this will be or if I'll even stick to doing it for very long, but I'll try!
We had a great Christmas and New Years. For Christmas we traveled to Kansas to spend the holidays with Cody's family. It was a little bit of a sad time, because Cody's Grandma had passed away the week before Christmas, but it was great to be able to see everyone, and for everyone to meet Liam that hadn't met him yet. On New Year's Eve, we had a bunch of my cousins over to our house. It was a lot of fun, and we got to see some of my cousins that I hardly ever get to see!
Yesterday was Liam's four month check up at the doctor. He had to get FIVE stupid shots, which is definitely one of the hardest things to watch as a new mom. And then the rest of the day he was pretty fussy, and that was hard, too because I just wanted to be able to do something to make him feel better, but I couldn't.
On the up side, though, we started Liam on solid foods last week. Yay! For the first few days, we just fed him baby cereal, which he loved. Then today I started feeding him some pureed squash, and his face got all squishy and he looked at me like "What exactly are you doing to me?" when he took his first bite. But he opened up for more, so it must not have been that bad! This picture is of him after he finished the cereal I made for him, and he was telling me "I want more, dangit!"
I'm so excited that it's Friday! This is the first weekend in months that we don't have any plans, and it will be fantastic! Of course, Cody will probably come up with some project for us to do, since he can't stand to sit around for a minute. Last night when I mentioned that we don't have plans, he said "I think our bedroom walls are calling to be painted." :) So we'll see what happens. Hope you all have a great weekend!
